i have discovered that my new 4 little wydonetts have cocci. i started corid wed night. they are all pretty active and were til today. all of them except one she is just standing there. i know thats normal but, does that mean she will die cause she isnt as active as the others?

I wouldn't say she's a goner, yet. She may have more of a cocci load than the others. It's why the corrid treatment is several (7 - 10) days long.

I also need help. I have chicks that are now 9 days old. We lost one at 2 days old, a second at 4 days old and have another who is barely hanging on for the past few days. I called the hatchery and he said they probably have cocci. BUT, after reviewing these posts, I find their symptoms are quite different.

Here is what she has: very lethargic for past 3 days, not really eating or drinking, some pasty white poop which I cleaned off and then she pooped white and green, then pretty normal color today (have never seen blood). Not runny. Today she is not standing and just recently her head began tilting to the side and she started staggering. Now she is almost on her back with head completely twisted around, eyes closed, labored breathing, but still hanging on. I feel so bad for her and completely helpless!! Does anyone have any experience with symptoms like these? I have isolated her, but not until today. I have 9 chicks left who are still active as ever, so I cleaned out their cage and water and food, hopefully minimizing their risk if it is contagious.

They are on wood shavings (pine? doesn't say on pkg and which it seems they are eating?!) I have them on organic chick starter and they have access to plenty of clean water and lots of space.

Please pass on some advice if you have any!

    Thank you.

She might be too sick to drink the mixture. Use an eyedropper to give it to her to drink, a couple of drops on the side of the beak at a time. You'll have to do this about 5-6 times a day for it to be effective until she can drink it on her own.

It would be best if you start your own post. Your chick has wry neck. She needs some vitamins.

she isnt doing much better. she was late last night and early this morning but now i dont know. i am so worried she will die. she is drinking some. eating some too but she just wants to lie there. where she was mostly standing yesterday today she is wanting to lie down mostly. please tell me that she is acting like the typical chick with cocci that will get better ;(

If you caught it in time she will get better. If not then she won't. You have done all you can do at this point. You will just need to wait and see.

Sorry I don't have better advice. Sometimes this is just the nature of poultry keeping.

I hope she perks up soon.
