I don't have pics yet and won't until Tuesday, but we just found out that my brother's friend's neighbor abandoned four dogs when they moved out of their house. There are three mutts that are maybe 2 years old (at least that's what he thinks) and an older pit bull. The pit is a sweetheart, when they found her they were complete strangers to her yet all she could do was love on them and play. She's got a complete vet record that they found in the house, and I don't know how old she is. Her eyes are starting to turn blue/grey because of her age.

I can't take these dogs, I have 2 very territorial pits that get along with each other most of the time but still have their moments, and bringing four dogs into our trailer would be INSANE. Initially my brother was only concerned with the pit, but I realized that there were three more dogs abandoned. All of these dogs will be put down if taken to a shelter.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a no-kill shelter in northwest missouri, or if someone could help foster the dogs and find homes for them. I could take maybe one until a home could be found, but there's no way I can take all four. Time is of the essence, so if anyone can help please let me know! I'll post pics/approximate ages/genders ASAP, but if anyone at all is interested or knows of a place that can help please post. Thanks, guys! Once again, I am in NW Missouri (Kansas City area).

I am so sorry.

I wish I knew of someone or could help out myself. Good luck, these poor little doggies will be in my thoughts. People can be so amazingly cruel.

Why don't someone turn the brother's friends neighbor into the police. They can be punished for abandoning the dogs. I would. To much of this is going on. People see that they can't care for them then they leave them to fend for themselves.

Sadly the Kansas City area isnt much for helping unwanted/Abandoned dogs.
I called about 35 shelters and none wanted to help me.Depending on the mixes they may help you though.
Mine was a pitbull mix and no one wanted anything to do with a pitbull mix.
Go to petfinder.com and search for local shelters and start calling.

You could try contacting a rescue group - there are many that are breed specific and they will usually take animals that are not purebreds (i.e., pit rescues will take pit-crosses, etc). Contact your shelter and see if they know of any rescue groups or Google them. Good luck. I hope they find a safe place to land, and thank you for caring enough to try to help them.

I've called everyone I can think of. I guess the lady's husband hit her or something and went to jail, and she just moved out. Didn't say a word. I don't know who she is, but I have a feeling that she would just put the dogs in a shelter (Wayside Waifs, which is a KILL shelter!) The pit bull would be killed immediately, and the other three may or may not. I don't know what the heck to do, I feel so bad for these puppies! I know everyone on here has a heart for animals, which is why I even ventured to ask.

You are better off looking into Rescue groups rather then shelter. rescue groups are more likely going to be no kill and they are more likely to foster the dog in homes rather then in a kennel. Good luck.

You could also report the person who abandoned the animals as that is against the law, and they can face a heavy fine and possible jail time.
