If you haven't seen this film, DO IT! You will be so glad you did. HBO is airing a movie based on the life of Temple Grandin (one of my idols, LOL). The film is amazing. It is a must see, especially for any of us on this website. You will love it (in my opinion, most of you will). Temple is a professor here at Colorado State and has an amazing life story. She triumphed over autism to become a pioneer in animal science. She literally revolutionized some of the processes involved in food animal production (for which she even received a major award from a controversial animal rights group).

The film is interesting, entertaining, and above all else- INSPIRING! I cannot recommend it highly enough. I hope they release it in theatres or make it available on DVD. Claire Danes, as Temple Grandin, makes an amazing performance. I have no doubt she will receive an Emmy nomination. I am not sure when, but I imagine it repeats (for those of you with HBO).

Have seen this movie a few times in the past couple weeks. Incredible story as well a fabulous portrayal by Claire Danes. A must see

I really hope more people see it. It is such an interesting look into the world of animal production. Can you believe some of what people put her through? Granted, that is probably more about her autism (and perhaps gender as well). It is like every step of the way, people tried to make her fail. I just don't understand it.

I loved the movie. My husband said he would watch it with me but he might get up partly through cause it's not his normal type show. Well he staked the entire time and you could tell he enjoied it.

I also love that she thinks in picture. As I do too and when I tell someone about it they give me weird looks.

Changed the way I think ... period. I ordered HBO last week specifically to see it. I was glad for the door it opened, but it did not do her justice. What an amazing woman.

Animals in Translation and Thinking in Pictures are my 2 only books I will never loan out.

I have not read any of her books surprisingly. They have been on my list. I just haven't done it yet. I will try to find that book, tonkastuff. My husband loved the movie as well, livinzoo. We had tevo'd it and ended up stopping it several times because we would get into conversation about the movie while we were watching it. I really want to possibly stay at CSU, so I can take some of her classes (or maybe just audit one, since the school is not necessarily the best pick for me).

My husband and I watched it. I was really surprised that he watched the whole thin. Usually he shows no interest in life stories about people, only likes action or sci fi movies for the most part. Just goes to show what a fascinating and brilliant woman she is.

Sounds amazing! Temple Grandin came to the vet school when I was in college to do a seminar and I'm STILL kicking myself that I didn't go! I had to work that night... bah!
