I recieved 4 chicks 2 weeks ago, 3 polish crested and one legbar.
The legbar is a little social butterfly! She runs to me as soon as I open the door, but the polish act like I am about to kill them. Only 1 is brave enough to eat out of my hand.
This is somewhat disappointing, as I was under the impression that as a breed, polish were calm, friendly, and made excellent pets, but these guys apparently skipped class that day.
I would like a REALLY high-value treat that I can use to bribe these guys into being a little happier to see me, but they are awfully little for things like blueberries and grapes, my normal bribes. They already have free access to chick grit, so not worried about that so much as upsetting their little tummies!
This treat would only be offered once or twice a day, in small quantities.
Any ideas?

And of course no thread is complete without PICTURES!
Zoe is the brave one. She'll hop right in my hand.

Freeze dried mealworms the best (squished) training tool ever, offer in your palm, gets them used to your hand. Another "trick" put some in an empty plastic container, shake then toss some out or hand feed. They learn that shake noise & as they get older & free range, shake that container, they will come running. Offer Chick Grit when feeding treats.
