Adding new chicks to 1yr old flock!

getting new chicks on the 29th! I know they are to stay safe and warm until they get adult feathers but when and how should i add them to my flock of 5 1yr old white rock hens?

when i introduce chickens to a flock i put a cage in the pen with the new chickens in it,or sometimes i take them out to the pen and let them run around in their until the other chickens get used to them?(method1 is easier)

in addition to the 6 new golden buff chicks im getting 2 RIR's who are a year old! Very unexpected but they needed a new home quick! due to some zoning issues their current owners are having! stupid code inforcers!
