I have 6 RIR about 10 months old, I would like to get six more. Any recommendations on a cold hearty breed that would get along with RIRs? I have them in a 8'x12' run with a coop attached on the outside.

I would recommend Wyandottes, Orpingtons, Australorps, and Barred Rocks.

Might try speckled Sussex too, their suppose to be pretty cold hardy if I'm not mistaken.

Rhode island reds tend to be very territorial so be very careful when introducing new chickens. Take it slow.

As for breeds, I would definitely look into the buff orpington, speckled sussex, black australorp and easter egger breeds. They are all cold hardy, great layers and friendly.
