When we were on our way home yesterday The neighbors little weiner dog bolted out after the car and of course, right in front of it. We weren't able to stop in time and the tire went right over her back end

. I jumped out and she was dragging her butt and yelping. i went to shoo her off the road until her owners could get her and she jumped around like a snake and bit me...Really not her fault, i know she was hurting.

I had to go to the ER last night and have my fingernail removed because she broke it in half. got 2 stiches and all wrapped up. of course antibiotics, pain medicine & a Tetnis shot too. Thank god they numbed my finger before pulling the nail pieces off..*cringe*

I feel so bad but am I wrong for being really mad at the owners for not keeping them out of the road?? They had a male before but i think he also got hit, he's been gone for almost a year now, we don't really know or talk to the people.

Their little dogs have always been kind of nasty, chasing & biting at the kids and stuff. the male used to visit our house when one of the girls was in heat but he was REALLY sketchy. Usually everyone's dog's are not kept on a leash and i know before my girl was put down she would also wander up the road at times. But no one elses dogs were mean or chased the cars. Sounds like a double standard but we only let them wander once in a while and they weren't mean or car chasers.

The guy just looked at me, with my profusely breeding hand, with this look like "well aren't you going to offer to pay for it??". The dog also bit him too pretty good.

I was going to see what happened with "izzy" later today. when it happened it looked like the whell had yanked her leg out of the socket, but I am sure there was probably some sine damage. I feel bad because it was more his daughters dog but he was being kind of rude about it all. It really wasn't our fault, I mean if i knew my dog was a car chaser i would put up a fence, keep her inside, or on a teather thing when she was outside.

Definitely not your fault! It really is too bad that people don't learn to keep their animals properly contained. Hope your finger heals ok and the dog too.

What a bummer for both parties, but this totally was not your fault. Owners should be responsible for their dog's, I pray you heal well. Keep us updated.

sorry. i personally think you are responsible for hitting the dog (medical bills) i know its sort of the wrong place at the wrong time... but you did hit the dog.

In our state the dog owner would be responsible for your injury. Also any damage to your car, since it is his property that caused the damage. And I would demand to see his rabies vacination certificate. Hope you heal ok.

This is not true, it was not her that let the dog run unsupervised, like I said earlier any damages caused by the dog is the dog owners responsibilty not the driver, just like if I pulled out in front you I would be responsible for all the damages!

whose to say it was an accident and the dog wasn't purposely left out or let out. if your dog ran out of the house on you and was hit by a car i think you'd be pretty upset too. i know i would be. accidents happen and unfortunately this one will cost some money.

I would have been thanking you for trying to get her off the road. Poor doggie

My son who was only one at the time got his little finger crushed in the door and his nail come out at the root ripping through the skin. It was SO horrible and he screamed so badly. I was about 10 min away from the hospital driving. I never felt so bad in my life

That has to really hurt! I sure hope there is no infection and you heal up nicely. Let us know how the doggie does.

What if that dog severly bit a child because it "ran out of the house by accident" anyone could say it was an accident it got loose, the owner of the dog is responsible for all damages caused by the dog.
