I adopted these two from an uncertain fate. What are they? I am pretty sure they are mutts.

They are both in quarantine - thus the small cage.

    Both:

Just learning the breeds myself...I think the red is a Sex-Link or Comet. The white is maybe a Delaware splash? Keep watching, I am sure someone with more experience will help.

I would guess one is some sort of Buff Orpington mix, and the other... Maybe a Delaware mix? Maybe also with Orpington?

I say Orp because of the white legs. Most of the more commonly found breeds are yellow legged, but there seem to at least be a lot of Buff Orps around.

I like the one on the right. Cool patterning! The one on the left may be one of the production hybrids. It's just the legs that are throwing me.

i agree that the orange one is probably a red star or sex link, not sure about the white splashed.

look at those red combs - they look to be healthy tho!

Could also be a light sussex mix with those white legs.

Quote:That's true. I wasn't thinking Sussex, despite having one outside, some in the brooder, and more in the incubator!

I think we can all agree they are mixes. And look quite healthy. Good job on the quarantine though!

The red one almost looks like a dark wheaten marans. That would be cool, but not too common.
