advice on chicks appreciated

I have 29 RIR chicks, I am only keeping 6 or 7. Tonight a neighbor will be taking 10 and the other 12 will be gone on Tuesday. they are 9 days old now and I am wondering how to choose which chicks to keep for my self. Every one appears to be healthy. I have noticed some are quite and some have very loud mouths. Advice would be appreciated.

I would say keep the quiet ones, the loud ones will only get louder in time. If you want pullets, keep the ones that seem more shy. At least with my chickens I've noticed that the cockerels are always the ones that come to me first curiously when I put my hand in the brooder.

That sounds like a good tip. As for the sex of the birds they are all supposed to be pullets.
