I currently have a 8 by 6 converted shed for my 12 chickens. I am getting 6 more chickens this month. I don't want to overcrowd the birds and thought it would be nice to have a second coop. I have looked at many prefab coops and have found problems with all of them. The best one I have seen is at Rural King and called a Shed Yard Overez Chick Coop. Has anyone used this coop? Any thoughts suggestions? chicken coop.jpg

Have you seen it in person to check the quality? It's so expensive!
It is at the local rural king. It looks fairly well made. The human door is smaller than I would like. I am concerned about ventilation as the windows are directly across from the roosts so when they are open I would worry about drafts. I am going back to see if the upper part of window could be open instead of the lower.

I'd leave it right where it is. You can build one, or have one built locally, of higher quality and lower price.

For size I have 20 hens in a 4x4 foot coop. I think that is plenty big for your girls. Looks nice to

I agree. I keep telling my DH that but he thinks we have enough chickens and does not want to help with the a new one; so I was looking for one I could build myself. I don't know anyone local to help.

Do you have problems with the birds in the winter? That was my main concern my birds do not like snow and won't go out till we shovel the run in the winter. They did good this year but we only had the 12.
