Age for identifying rooster? Buff Orpington.

I have, or my family has, owned many types of chickens before and I never had this problem. I have 14 Buff Orpington Pullets about 2 months old. I know that sexing is not 100% proof and I was hoping to get a roo out of it. Sometimes I think one or even two might be.... but then again I doubt it. Some have really thick legs and are large.... but all the combs relativley look the same with very little variation between all 14. Most have short stubby tails and 2 have longer tails, but they have smaller combs. I also have a few 'cocky' ones but then it's not consistent. Any advice? Or should I buy another batch and try again?

Buff orpingtons generally have fat legs. I call my girl Sausage fingers. Mean yes? Anyway.. 2 months old should be old enough to sex them. Post some pictures and we will help you identify your cockerels. :)

Your "girl" looks like a boy with as red as the comb is. Do you have a side view so we can see how big the comb is?

Now that I looked at pics of my BO at 2 months old I am thinking your girl is a girl. Unless the comb is bigger than the pic shows. Here is a pic of my BO's comb at 2 1/2 months old.

I agree not a boy. This pic is much better at showing the comb.

So the males combs should be significantly bigger and darker red by 2 months then? I'm stuck buying more pullets hoping for a roo unless someone has a sweet roo they are willing to part with. I live in Nor Cali. I tried taking pics- they all look the same since they won't stand still for beans lol.

    APYL- she is beautiful!

This one is a little cocky and is on the smaller side. But is as bigg as the comb gets. I think I am outa luck.
