New to raising coturnix quail. At what age in weeks is it ok to remove them from the brooder and to the outside pen? Other helpful advice on the transition is also welcome.

i move my birds out of the brooder at 4 weeks of age(coturnix)during spring/summer to an outside grow pen, during the colder months i wait till 6 weeks when they are more feathered out.

It depends on time of year and your outdoor set up. In summer I often move mine outside around 3 weeks old to a cage inside my barn out of any wind or rain (not like we get any rain in the summer

). This time of year I'll wait until they don't have any fuzz left, so probably 5-6 weeks old. Same outdoor set up with birds this time of year: Cage inside the barn. When I've had quail to move outdoors in winter I've moved their light with them. The first coturnix I had actually stayed inside till they were 12-14 weeks cause I thought it was too cold to move them
