After many hours of searching online, I finally gave up and called the City of Vancouver. Here is what they told me:

In city limits: 3 hens, no roosters.

Outside city limits, (Vancouver Urban Growth areas): No limit on chickens, as long as there isn't too many flies and/or excessive smell. Also, chickens can't be used for commercial purposes.

Clark County: No limit, same rules apply. Need to get a commercial license if used for that purpose.

Hope this helps someone out there!

WOW thanks!! I looked and looked and never wanted to ask anyone since we already have our chickens (and have had them for 4 months since they where a day old).
We did ask all the neighbors if they minded and they all think its great! We do have 1 rooster (possibly another one we arent sure about yet).

We are in vancouver but everyone says we are far enough out that we can have as many as we want...we are in Hockinson school district.
And we are planning on adding to our flock soon.

Caran was online looking at regulations/codes for City/County and could not find anything specific. I said we should just probably email the county and find out. It was a relief for us too since we have 6 girls already and adding more. Im glad we know now for sure. Just as long as they dont expand the Vancouver city boundary. That would be a problem! lol

I have also been try to find out what the laws are for chickens inside Vancouver, WA city limits. This is what I found:
    http://www.cityofvancouver.us/codeenforcement.asp?itemID=53769
Can you keep chickens in the city limits?

Chickens are allowed, however roosters and peacocks are not.

VMC 20.150 defines a domestic animal as any animal other than livestock. VMC 20.895.050 further states the general requirements of keeping domestic animals within the city limits and also excludes the keeping of swine, roosters and peacocks.

Since there was not an amount listed I called Doug Ross (Doug Ross, Code Compliance Supervisor - (360) 487-7848) and asked him. He stated that there were no limits on the amount of chickens kept inside the city limits, only that there were to be no roosters, only hens. He also stated that other codes could come into play such as ordinances dealing with noise or odor.

Hopefully this helps other people, my family and I are very new at this and greatly appreciate all the good information that we have found!

welcome neighbor!! We really enjoy our chickens and are adding to them everyday (we never asked about limits LOL)
None of our neighbors mind, and we have the room for LOTS of them....I think we are getting close to around 50 now.

what part of vancouver are you in?

    we are out towards Hockinson.

I live off of 192nd in East Vancouver, just a stones throw away from being out of city limits. We live in a development with lots of neighbors! Our lot is only 6,000sf so space is a premium!

    Hi,

I live near downtown Vancouver, just before area turns into Hazel Dell.
I'm on 1/2 acre of land and am in the County but surrounded by City. For some reason our small area was never annexed to the City.

I too was looking on-line and couldn't find the definitive number of hens I'd be allowed. All we plan on having is 5 hens, so thanks for this useful information.

Got 3 chicks on Monday: Blue Andalusian, Blk Langshan, Buttercup and then today I ran up to Pioneer Feed and got 2 more chicks: Astrolorp? and one other whose name escapes me right now.
My daughter wanted one of each so we see how they work out.
