Ahhh! Look what I found in our climbing roses!

I had been getting a bit suspicious.... Every night at around 7PM I hear a very loud buzzing noise (when walking back from taking care of the girls), I'd look up and a hummingbird was buzzing around our climbing roses. I was wondering if they had a nest, so tonight, when it happened again, I looked up at the top of the roses and found this:

A nest! I was so excited that I hung around a little longer and the wait was worth it:

The mom came back! Any idea what kind of hummingbird she is? We live in western Oregon, I was thinking maybe Rufous (sp?). I'm not sure though. Anyway, I thought that I would share this since it is so cool!

Possibly a Rufous Hummingbird? hard to tell---but awesome find!!!!

Neat! I don't think I have ever seen a humming bird nest!

I find the hummingbird nests when the leaves fall in autumn, but haven't found one active. I have a Carolina Wren's nest on the back side of the main coop and a flying squirrel's nest on the other coop.

I still can't believe it! I went out to watch again, and she came back several times. She has a irridescent green back from what I can tell...
