Alfalfa ok for chicks?

I give alfalfa to my laying hens every once in a while but I was wondering if it was ok to give to my 5 week old chicks. I have a little feeder that’s made for guinea pigs that I packed about 4 cups of loose alfalfa into. Just wanted to make sure they won’t have trouble digesting it or anything. Thanks!

It's hard to know if that's going to be a problem or not - IF they just pick off the little leaves and have a source of grit (crushed granite) then likely it will be fine. I am all for chicks having treats/fruit/veggies, but would worry about them ingesting the long pieces which could potentially impact a crop.

Just my thoughts:)
