Hello! I am a member of the Foster family. Our last name is Foster so we decided to call our house "Foster Farms" when we got chickens!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Our family first got 4 chickens back in April 2017 and have been losing/ adding some to our flock since.:woot

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have 7 chickens. 6 hens and 1 rooster.

(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 1 Rhode Island red, a buff orpington, a barred rock, 2 americaunas/ easter eggers, and 2 silkies (1 silkie rooster)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was wondering if our broody silkie's egg was viable on day 18. (It wasn't):hit

(5) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

-We have a red merle mini Australian shepherd plus 4 family members! :D
-We recently lost 2 of our first four hens we bought, so we got 3 more chickens. (the easter eggers and barred rock):yesss:

So sorry to hear of your losses. I hope fond memories bring some comfort.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

Great pics! :clap If you would like to share more Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
