Hello everyone, first time visitor. I have 17 backyard (free roam) chickens (3 roosters) that we feed daily. We get a few eggs and they get safety & food, so it's been pleasant, until... And that's why I'm here because I need some help. Nut sure if posting my issue is allowed (appropriate) under the new member (intro) thread, so I'll repost. Look forward to chatting. Adam

Greetings from Kansas, Adam, and [IMG]! Great to have you in our community! Hope you found the forum where you wanted to post your concern/question. I'm wondering if it didn't have to do with a predator getting some of your birds since they free range. My sister lives in your beautiful state, now in Oahu but formerly on the Big Island, where she raised chickens. She said she had a mongoose problem. Hope that isn't what your "until" is about. Anyway, so glad you joined BYC. You will find it helpful and friendly. And if you'd like to chat with fellow Hawaii poultry folks, locate your state thread in this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Best wishes and good luck to you!!

    Hi Redsoxs
We live in Oahu, north shore. It's quite nice here, especially during the cool winter months. We don't have a preditor issue but I have seen mongoose & cats lurking about from time to time. But we have a crazy dog that patrols the area [IMG]. No I'm here because my roster is hurt [IMG] and I need advice. I like Kansas, dove through once or twice, lot is fields as i recall.

Hi Adam, sorry to hear your rooster has a problem. It sounds as if the emergency forum CTKen directed you to is the right place. Hope things get better for your bird soon.

    Thanks for joining us!

G’Day from down under Tumada [IMG] Welcome!

I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]
