I have a bantum leghorn who I think has laid one egg since she arrived with me 2 weeks ago. I was expecting her to go off lay due to the stress. I didnt check the girls over last week as I wanted them to settle down. I got Flappy today and noticed during the checks that her comb has started to go a deep burgandy/bluey on the tips. I dont recal this when she arrived. She was also vying for the number one spot in the flock against my silkie but has now become a loner! Is she poorly, could it be because she came off a farm where she wandered free and she is now penned in, or do I need to check anything else on her - she is still not laying and I have also noticed she doesnt come and go mad like all of the others at feeding time she sort of hangs back and doesnt seem to bother if its all gone when she gets there, have tried to seperate her for food but she has a couple of pecks and thats it! She doesnt look as tough she is loosing wieght and is still drinking

she was allegedly wormed 2 weeks ago just before I got her. Will check her breast bone tommorow- what am I looking for?, and she is on layers pellets. Am unsure on the make (but they are apparently a complete food that the farmer was using and they came with the girls so they had at least one constant). A little concerned as she is supposed to be the "flighty" one in the coupe and is the most subdued! I think the white egg(on day 3) was hers (though it could have been the silkies I suppose). I have seen her go up the house a couple of times in the day and sing a little but have checked straight after and no egg. I have heard of something called internal layers (though I dont fully understand this) I was told she has been a prolific layer!

Sometimes it can be hard to tell when a hen starts to lose weight,if her breastbone is sticking out sharply with little meat around it,she is definitely poorly. Is she eating 16% layer pellets?Maybe add some flock raiser which is 20%.Can you separate her, maybe offer her some scrambled or chopped up boiled eggs and maybe some yogurt. What does her poo look like?

OOH I got a good view of her poo earlier as she turned her bum on me indisgust at been checked under her wings and feet! It was mainly black with a bit of white in it average consistency I would have said. She didnt feel particularly bony when I picked her up and her feathers felt in nice condition. She did feel alot lighter than my warrens and a bit heavier than the tiny bantums - not got to compare her to my silkie yet as she has eluded me for her health check. She seemed to pur when been held and stroked though did seem a little shell shcocked at been picked up keeping her beek slightly ajar and going really still not wriggling or fighting like the others did when first handled. Should the comb have a bluish tinge, have just been through the photos from day 7 here and she did have a bit of a tinge then
Cheers

Poo sounds normal I think.Don't know how bluish her comb is,but a blue comb means heart problem I think.I certainly am not an expert on this and I hope someone with more experience might chime in..............Have you tried the google custom search in the upper right hand corner for some of her symptoms ?
