amarant grain - is this O.K. for chickens?

I wonder if feeding little chicks with amaranth grain would be ok for them. The seeds are tiny, and nutricious. I'm trying to grow my own chicken-food, and fed whole grain. So, corn is ok for big hens, but what is ok for little ones?

Not sure, but that's interesting that you're growing you're own chicken feed!

Hope someone else can give more advice though.
