Tell me what you think about #1 and #2, please! And for my sake and the sake of others who are new to this, please explain. Thank you!

These are around 10 weeks old.

Ok. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the first one is a pullet. The obvious rounded saddle feathers, small, light colored comb and her overall appearance lead me to think that one's a girl.

The second one looks like a roo. He has a much larger comb with 3 rows of bumps. Also his feather coloration is much more like that of a EE roo.

Thanks for post excellent pictures, especially of their combs! [IMG]

Wonderful pictures, it makes guessing so much easier!

The first is a pullet. No sign of comb development, slender legs, and very even coloration on the body.

The second is a cockerel. He is developing his comb (3 distinct rows), and his body coloration is uneven with no tidy pattern. This will later develop into colorful hackle and saddle splashes.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the replies!

That's what we were thinking, too, but hoping we were wrong. We already have a wonderful BO roo that we adore, and we would have too many for the number of hens we have. Oh well, maybe we can find him a good home.

From what I have gathered for these birds that roos have three rows of bumbs for the comb...My EE roo has the 3 rows, but they are not as red as my B.O rooster's comb
