I bought this now 7 week old chick as an "ameraucana" "100% guranteed pullet" what are your thoughts? This is my only chick of this breed. Opinions appreciated. Thank you.

She's an Easter Egger as opposed to a true Ameraucana but she is a pullet.)

Really? Yay!! I know nothing about EE's so I couldn't figure her out. She is pretty aggressive with the other 6 chicks she's in with so I was wondering if it was cockerel behaviour.

Actually having blown up the picture and looked at the pea comb more closely, it may not be a pullet. I don't see any of the color patterns that say "male" but it looks to me in the bottom photo like it's beginning to develop three rows of peas in the comb which would be indicative of a cockerel. Also a couple of those tail feathers in the third picture down are beginning to look pretty long and pointed.

    I'm leaning towards cockerel.

My Easter Eggers (also sold as Ameraucana, but not!) are also very aggressive towards others. They are not friendly with me, despite lots of handling. One will not even approach for treats, or take them off the ground until I back off well away. :/

Looks like an Easter Egger cockerel to me.

Consensus looks to be cockerel. I figured that was the case. Of course I pick out the rooster from all the chicks he had. [IMG]I will be heading out to the breeder with him for an exchange. Thank you for your thoughts.

You all were correct about "Camilla" being a cockerel. The breeder exchanged him for a her...and this is my new pullet. No name picked yet..lol[IMG]
