So I was a bit nervous to post my AmerAUcana's on the thread cuz I went through some older posts...sheesh, I hope mine are legit...I was sold by the farm telling me they were...but ya never know!

So I guess I'm confused as to how you know. When I read the informative sites online it says muffs and ear tufts which they have. Is it that they lay green eggs or the color of their feathers that makes them DQ? I've seen some on the thread that look like my first girl called Ameraucana...I kinda thought the muffs/tufts made them Ameraucana's...this breed is a bit difficult to decipher no?

i have a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana Rooster who is less than a year old. Anyone know how I can find people who really need him. He is beautiful!

Where in Texas are you located?
Recently, on Facebook, I found a group called "Ameraucana Chickens" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/65816532358/?notif_t=group_r2j_approved), and also Ameraucana Breeders Club now has a page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/658...up_r2j_approved#!/AmeraucanaBreedersClub/info).

If you are anywhere near Austin, there's a guy who takes roosters and rehomes them. He does NOT eat them. Check out the Austin Backyard Poultry Meetup Group forum (http://www.meetup.com/AustinBackyardPoultry/); there is a classified ads section. You can contact him in the thread called "will take all your roosters" (http://www.meetup.com/AustinBackyardPoultry/boards/view/viewthread?thread=23265572).

Otherwise, perhaps you can advertise him at your feed store? Craig's List? There may be another Backyard Poultry Meetup Group in your area where you could advertise him. I know there's one in San Antonio, Dallas, Ft. Worth, and one in Arkansas. There may also be a 4-H chapter near you that you could try.

Their feather colour is not Ameraucana. But that certainly doesn't make them one bit less lovable!!

And to confuse you more.... Ear "tufts" are NOT on your birds and are an Auracana trait. Beards and Muffs belong on an Ameraucana. The ear tufts look like wings, and they come out AT the ears and wing back (hopefully!) And yes, they ARE beautiful and loveable. Don' ya kinda hate this learning curve??? LOL!

Criiiiiiipe~ lol Mine have something of some muff feathers going on-harder to see in the second pic, she was struttin in action and is camera shy! Man, all the books I've seen had none on the Auracana"s and on the Ameraucana's...smh someone needs to re-write the books and post better pics lol the cartoon drawings don't do any justice to them! Good thing I changed my siggy to EE now...I'd hate to upset anyones apple cart here~
