Ameraucanas, Araucanas, EE's?

Alright, I newish to the chicken world.

I'm confused about a couple of things.

The Araucana is the bird with the ear tufts, from south america.Noted for laying blue eggs. Right?

The Ameraucana is a seperate breed than the Araucana, but derives from it. Also lays blue/green eggs. Right?

So, are both of these breeds considered EE's? Or is an EE just a mutt breed that happens to lay blue green eggs?

From pictures I have seen, I can clearly tell the araucana, but Ameraucanas and EE's look exactly the same.

Please help clerify all this fro me!

I am new and would like to know that same thing. I am ordering some ameraucanas this year.

This sticky thread will explain it all. EEs are the crossbreed bird that most hatcheries mislabel as "Ameraucana/Araucana". And as such, most do not lay blue eggs. Most seem to lay green, some do lay blue and some even lay brown.
