amercauanas sick? DE? dont know.....

    I live in Ontario Canada.
    Our resources here are limited for medications.

    My 2 4 month old amercaunas are coughing, and very nasally. Sounds like a cold, congestion. I've noticed over the last few weeks, they are not as active ,,,eat and drink ok...

    Not thriving as the others

    we to TSC. the guy gave me penicillin in powder form .80 gm for 4 litres of water. I had no other choice.

    I started treating the water today...

    I feel so lost. What else should I do? or don't do?


    Don't wanna loose these beauties!!!

    It could be a respiratory disease, infectious bronchitis, mycoplasma (MG,) or possibly fungal disease from mold in the environment called aspergillosis. Oxytetracycline treatment in the water, or Tylan from a vet may help unless it is fungal. Infectious bronchitis is a virus which has to run it's course over 4-5 weeks. To prevent respiratory diseases in chickens, provide as much overhead ventilation in the coop as possible, keep bedding dry and clean, don't keep it too warm, and prevent water spills or mold.
