One of my Americaunas is doing some news things. Their are about 5 months old and their combs are starting to become darker. But one of them puts her head down and spreads her wings.

Is she acting like a cat in heat or being submissive?

Sounds to me like she's squatting. They do that a week or so before they start laying eggs. It's the posture they take when they are getting bred by the rooster, I believe. It's a pretty good indication that laying eggs is going to happen soon!!! I just pat mine when they do that and then they fluff all up and shake.

Cool, I hope she lays soon. Our Buff Orps and RIR have been laying and we're enjoying it.

When the Amercaunas were chicks I chose 4 different kinds (colors and patterns) and they all look different now. Very pretty with thier puffy cheeks. I can't wait to see what color eggs they lay!
