Looking to rehome my Americauna rooster "Austin Powers" he is accustomed to supervised free ranging. Nice bird, keeps to himself and his hens. Collecting eggs is never a problem- just have a nasty neighbor. In So Ohio

Yes we are all about free range, all 12 of our chickens are free range. They all coop themselves at night and let themselves out in the morning. Do you know how to do the shipping? I have no clue about it. I know that it causes some stress on the birds. I have never shipped a chicken and I dont know how well it would go. I know that they ship babies and eggs all the time. I will research it some and let you know if i can figure anything out.

You will need to order an approved shipping box like the ones here http://www.hm-e.net/ . Then you will be responsible for the Express shipping fees which will probably be $60-80.

However before any of this is done you should check to see if either state has restrictions on shipping due to AI.

Thank you for this useful info. Although do they go by the weight of the bird or just the fact thats its a live animal?

The cost will depend on the weight and distance traveled. You can probably get an estimate using the destination and arrival zip codes.

No I dont, he's a good size bird. Your place sounds so ideal for him, how far are you from the WV border? I would almost even consider transporting via road trip, maybe meet somewhere in the middle ?
