What makes you say EE instead of Ameruacana. I've read about them both and just kind of don't understand I guess.

    He is a non-standard coloring.

He could be a blue Ameraucana, but all the leakage (other color coming through) would disqualify him from showing or the breeding pen.

for backyard breeding, just a colorful mixed flock that lays colorful eggs, he would be a fine flock rooster. For my mixed breed projects, I actually like the leakage cause it gives more colorful offspring [IMG]

Like any breed, Ameraucana have standard colors. Plymouth Rocks come in barred, white, buff, colombian, etc. Wyandottes come in gold laced, silver laced, buff, white, colombian, etc. Ameraucana are the same, they come in specifiic colors--wheaten, black, white, buff, silver, etc. Your boy isn't a designated color, so he's an Easter egger by default. If it were one of the other breeds I mentioned, it would simply be a barnyard mix.

Would he not be considered blue wheaten? If the colors on his neck and wings come in more, he is only about 4 months old.

Nope. He's more silver than gold, wheaten would be the reddish copper color. that's not going to change. Plus, the base color is simply wrong. Wheatens are wheaten from the start. Leakage on a base of black or blue tends to increase as they age. It won't turn into an acceptable color.

Well that stinks lol. Oh well like you said he will be good to breed with my brown egg layers to make EE's right?
