An Idea for a Good Hen House

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by chickensrule45, Nov 18, 2014.

  1. Hello everyone!
The photo I attached shows my girls ready for roosting on a perch in our large bird aviary.
We don't have a hen house so we use the aviary instead.
They share the aviary with my dad's pet major mitchell cockatoo.
They have a feeder, water, nesting boxes, perches, space and are fairly safe and secure (it's just outside my bedroom window).
I keep them in the aviary at night and let them out free ranging during the day.
The aviary wire is strong and there are bricks as a foundation.
It is sheltered and the ground is soil so the girls can dig for food and have dust baths.
Thank you to those who read this!

Enjoy the rest of your day! [IMG]

My Girls: One the far left of the perch, shows Henny Penny ( ex battery hen),
then Lilly, Angeline, and on the far right is Henrietta. Our other two ex battery hens
have passed away. Their names were Louise and Henrietta.

Welcome to BYC [IMG] That looks and sounds like a nice housing arrangement! As long as they have adequate shelter in foul weather they should be fine in there.
