I am going through this just because nature hates me so I can't help with all the surgery and such BUT on the hot flashes....freeze water bottles. I was sleep 2 weeks a month with frozen water bottles tucked under my arms. I just refreeze them in the morning. The only issue is if they slip away from me and the husband rolls onto one. Try to avoid doing that.

Oh and make sure your getting a really nutrient dense diet. It really seems to help with feeling achy. I take magnesium and calcium for the jitters and the aches too.

Instant menopause is even less fun than the gradual kind I'm told. My sympathies.

The hot flashes are no fun, but I had fibroids. I could hardly leave the house I bled so heavily. I don't miss that.

    Hey Chicken Zoo...

Sorry to hear you are going through all that. I didn't have a hystrorectomy...but I'm doin that menopause thing. The best thing I have done for myself is go to a biodentical hormone replacement specialist (it's usually a regular doctor...just google for one in your area). Dr. Talbot did blood work on me and figured out the exact dosage of what I needed to help me through all my symptoms. The thyroid was the biggest issue. I had been on thyroid meds...but found out that I was nowhere near the dose I should have been taking. She also got me balanced out on all the other hormones. I can't believe how much better I feel! Do yourself a favor and find a specialist.

In the meantime...when I used to have hotflashes at nite....I would get four cans of pop out of the fridge and put one at each foot and then held the other two in my hands. I was amazed at how it cooled me down and equally amazed at how fast the cans got warm....I was THAT hot! :) It's still a quick fix and might help you in a pinch.

    Take care!
