Community Events Listing: Central Maine Bird Fanciers is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating youth and adults in poultry husbandry and showmanship. re: Central Maine Bird Fanciers Annual Showmanship Education Program. Where: Evening Star Grange, Washington, Maine (Grange Hall is located on the south side of the Old Union Rd. at the intersection of the Bill Luce Rd. and Old Union Rd. in Washington, off Route 220) When: Sunday April 19, 2009 10:30 a.m. This event is FREE and anyone interested in learning about raising and exhibiting poultry at the fairs are welcome to attend. Details: Central Maine Bird Fanciers is hosting its Annual Showmanship Education Program. By popular demand we are opening this program up for the first time to both Adults and Youth. Central Maine Bird Fanciers will show all who attend how to choose a poultry breed, how to care for them, and how to clean , handle, and prepare them for exhibiting. We will discuss the NPIP test that each flock will need prior to entering birds to show at the fairs and a tester will be on hand to demonstrate. We will have on hand a variety of birds to demonstrate with and to give the everyone in attendance a chance to practice handling. Each year we have a great turn-out and everyone who attends learns a lot ! Light refreshments will be served. This program will be followed by our monthly Pot-Luck lunch at Noon and our monthly meeting at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to bring a dish to share and to talk turkey with other club members!!
