Hi all,

I've finally convinced my hubby (who still thinks I'm a little crazy) to get some chickens. Now for the coup(s).

I'm thinking about doing a tractor for the majority of the year and doing a separate insulated winter coup stashed under my deck.

I'm going to start small, I'm thinking 3 pullets

I found a nice lady whose going to hatch some black sex-links the end of April, so I think I'll go that route even though I was thinking of orpingtons.

Hubby thinks your crazy. We just had this talk

ME: (about a year ago) I'm going to get chickens Im not spending $3 a dz eggs

Hubby: Dont get me involved in your hairbrain idea

Me: (about 5 weeks ago) Im getting a incubator

Hubby: what do you need that for if your only replacing 8 birds

Me: Just because I want it and dont worry Ill rehome the roosters and only keep a few birds

Hubby: better hurry up and find some eggs

7 hatch out of 9

order a dzn more eggs and the day before they are shipped ...

Hubby: you should have ordered 2 dzn

this weekend I find a ad on craigslist a man has all kinds of chicks so we are deciding what to get and..

Hubby: you know you have to decide which ones you want as he scans the mcmurry book for examples and he makes a list of 8 birds


Hubby: you can only get 6

Me: OK I will only get one Brahma instead of 2 and we dont need the red star since there the same as my comets

Hubby: We better get 2 brahmas

Me: you know you keep trying to make it all out to be me but you always want them as much as I do, you just want to blame me when we have too many and you want to say I told you

Hubby: laughs that kinda darn she knows me so well giggle

So dont worry hubby will join you in your madness lol

Hello there neighbor

We have 5 hens, all raised from chicks. And three more coming.

Dh still isnt too sure about I think, but he does like the fresh eggs.

We have 3 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Black Cochin and 1 Australorp.
Coming soon we have a Speckled Sussex and 2 Self Blue DUccle banties.

All of which already have names.
Sophia(Sussex) Mac and possibly Katherine, if my sister doesnt name her baby that.
