Another mating question

    How often should a rooster mate I have 5 hens and he is on their back 4 or 5 times a day He is a year old Will he slow down

    Basically a rooster will mate as frequently as he can. ALL males slow down as we get older. [​IMG]

    If he is causing excessive 'wear and tear' on their feathers, you can separate him periodically or invest in hen saddles for the hens. If fertile eggs are your goal, a hen can store sperm and produce viable in excess of 2 weeks after a rooster has been removed.

    If you remove him for how long canyou and will the hens pay the price for it later
