Hey everybody!
I'm new here... been browsing for a few weeks and figured it was time to introduce myself.
I'm Susan, from B.C. Canada, and I'm brand spankin' new to chickens. About three weeks ago I was given four young ladies from a city girl who couldn't keep them in her backyard any more. 2 reds, a barred rock and what I think is an australorps that were probably hatchery birds bought at the local feed store. Chicken math has already hit and now I'm up to a dozen with the addition of 4 one month old SLWs, a blue and a buff orpington, a salmon favorolles and a cuckoo marans. None of them are laying yet. I want to add just a few more for a variety of pretty birds and a mixed colour egg basket. Next spring, perhaps.
I've wanted chickens for about 8 years since we moved out in to the country and ended up with cattle instead. The free chickens was just what I needed to actually get some and I'm *SO* glad we did.
