Hi, I am new to BYC and I am also new to chickens, chicken raising, etc.. I don't have my first birds yet but I will soon. My coop is supposed to be ready on January 23 or so. My 7 year old son is excited and eager to make this a joint effort. I can use the help. I plan on starting with about 6 birds- 2 silkies, 2 orpingtons and 2 americaunas. That's the plan anyway. My son and I are raising the birds as pets and a few eggs along the way won't hurt. Glad to have found this site and hope to be picking some of your brains out there soon enough.
Can anyone suggest a good breeder for the silkies? I would prefer young, buff, hens and bearded would be even better. If anyone could help us out with that I would really appreciate it. Hope to hear back soon. Advice on any topics would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot.
