Another question, add chicks now?

When I was in the feed store they just received today 1 day old Giant Jerseys that I have always wanted to raise. Is it poss. to add a couple of chicks to the one's under mother just hatching today? I would add them in tomorrow as it's too far to drive back to get them today. Should I just forget about it and let her brood whatever comes from her hatch? It might be my only chance to add Jerseys. Thanks for any advise - Sharon

PS - she is a really easy going standard cochin hen who is ALWAYS broody!

From what I've heard / read, you should be able to slip them in. The suggestion is to put them in at night while the hen is sleeping.
