Anti bacteria alternative in California

Hi all,

Since California banned sales of anti bacteria, which i think is totally ridiculous from us small operation users, what are some options or equivalent? I'm guessing i'll have to resort to the black market or buying online...will need them for my quails and pheasants in case of emergencies.

good alternatives, garlic clove once a day chopped when you have a sick bird, was the choice before antibiotics, it also won't kill good bacteria, the other option is oregano oil, here is an article on that- http://timbercreekfarmer.com/how-oregano-replaces-antibiotic-use-in-livestock/

the change in meds is just water solubles nation wide, not just california, so injectable are available, also check with pigeon suppliers and allbirdproducts has some antibiotics

Yea as you can tell im just a hobbyist and haven't needed anti biotics for a while now. Only to find out recently they didnt sell it anymore. Thanks for the detail...i just looked it up and seems we still need a prescription for injectables here in Cali. I didnt read into how to obtain a prescription but i can imagine it's too much trouble to go through every time i would need it. also to inject a whole flock would be a whole lot of trouble. I will keep use your suggestions when time comes. BIG THANKS!

Welcome to BYC! You can buy just about any antibiotic from a pigeon supply website. Let me know if there is something you need help finding.
