Any advice to newbie

Hello,
I am new to chickens, and got 10 laying hens. Then I kicked a stray rooster in with them, and am planning on hatching some chicks out of them. Is there anything I must be aware of first, as soon as they start staying on the eggs, I will let them hatch. Thanks, have a great day, and be blessed.

Just sit back and watch. Once you see them staying on the nest all day and through the night mark your calendar. Good Luck

I have posted pictures of my hens on this forum, and some have said that they were in a commercial laying situation, and may not lay on the eggs. I was wondering if there is any way to make them lay on the eggs, like maybe putting a dozen eggs in a nest or something like that to promote the behavior.

You cannot make a hen go broody. They either do it or they don't. It's hormonal.
