hi! i was planning on getting a 5 week old chick but was just reading up on the troubles that can occur when introducing a chick to an adult hen. i don't know if i want to risk it, especially being new at this. anyone have one for sale that is already big enough to hold her own? Also any advice on how old that is? i've read something conflicting theories. i've heard anywhere from 8 weeks to 16 and everything in between. thanks!

i jus put my 4 week olds in w/ my big ones today....im sure ill get a lot of grief for that, but i kept an eye on them for a while and they LOVE it! the roo is protecting them......it really depends....id say 8 weeks or more and youll be fine.....that doesnt mean that they couldnt get beat up bad by the other hen, but the hen shouldnt even try at that point [IMG]
