any flie tying friends out there

hello my hubby ties his own flies I am wanting to maybe get some birds that we can harvest the hackle off of. anyone know what type of birds those are? also anyone want to do some trading on flies and such...

Hi Mamma Dixie. My husband also ties flies. There are a few sources of fertilized eggs for fly-tying birds - but no chicks that I ever found. This is our first year with chickens, so we didn't want to try to hatch eggs. My husband got some bantam dark brahma hens for their hackle - but he is a chicken-softie. He loves those girls, and there is no way they will end up in his fly-tying desk! PM me if you can't find a thread on here about fly-tying, I'll help you find the site with eggs for sale.
