Any guesses as to breed and gender? (Updated Pics)**

A friend donated a couple of rir eggs to my classroom hatch. Only one hatched. I think that this is it. Can anyone tell me for sure and whether it is a boy or girl? It is 4 days old. Thanks.

It is much too early to tell the sex of the chick. Only time will tell.

Too early to tell cockeral or pullet and it does not look like a RIR chick...they would be alot darker.....my rirs were always dark....

4 weeks is a good time to post pics and its easier to tell gender...

Here is a recent pic of the little chick. After some research, I am thinking maybe he/she is a sex link????

Well, probably a roo from the pictures. RIR are much darker so it could be a sex link.

With that much of a comb at 5 weeks I'd say roo.
