I was told that they were Black Copper Marans that were covered by a Buff Orpington. I'm too new to know if that plausibly explains their coloration and pattern. They are -by far- the prettiest in my young flock, though!

    Thoughts?

Very Pretty!! I have some BO x BR that have the 1/2 dark body with a 1/2 light color (silver) so I could easily believe the BO over something. (i don't know copper marans at all though.)

Quote:I wondered if that might be it HOWEVER: Their beaks are more black/brown than bone/horn and the feathers are not even close to black. It is a very pretty, very dull mocha in contrast to the silky gold of the top. Do you still think Campine is a possibility?
