I was wondering what type of silkie chicken is this? Around how old?
Either a cuckoo gray or slash Silkie chicken.
Do you know anyway to get hens to lay eggs in their nesting boxes?
It looks like a sizzle, beautiful chick.
I second the sizzle silkie chicken! I know it is not a normal silkie.
This little one has it's feathers different than regular silkies.
I also have a regular silkie and they look very different. Check this picture out of my white silkie.

I am not sure. I am also new to chickens. Re-post your question on "https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/18/chicken-behaviors-and-egglaying" someone there might be able to help you out better.
Ours just laid one in the coop in the box this morning. I put a lot of bedding in there for her and she did her thing. Leave the coop open all day so that she can go in anytime. Do you have some nesting boxes?
Sorry not that much help. I am "just hatched" and like you I am learning all about my chickens.
Does anyone know how old this chick might be?
Since it is a cross breed I wonder if it looks small, but is actually older than what it looks or vice versa.
How big do Sizzle silkies get?
Thanks for all the great feedback.
My guess is 2weeks to 4 weeks.
You should see my frizzles and sizzles, they are really small too and are about 12 weeks, I'd say your is more like 6-8 weeks
