We've found an amazing house in Bellefonte, PA that we're interested in purchasing. We just found out that the area is zoned residential but it is obviously rural. I cannot find any laws, ordinances or regulations regarding animals as of this point. Any help in finding them so I can read them to see if we want to continue with the purchase?

Congratulations on finding a nice house ~ hopefully it will work out.

BYC member PeakyBeaky is from Bellefonte, PA maybe she can help you ~

is the link to the Borough of Bellefonte Zoning Code .

I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. Is the property actually in the Borough proper or outside the Borough with a Bellefonte address.

I did just find this section in the Code ~ I don't know if it would apply to the location you are looking at.

No person shall keep any bovine, horse, pig, hog, swine, mule, sheep, chicken,
turkey or other farm animal or maintain any pig pen, hog pen, stable, kennel or other
similar structure or building for the care and housing of such animals in the Borough.
This section shall not apply to a farm, as defined on page 8, Section 104.38, of the
Zoning Ordinance of the Borough, or to any validly existing nonconforming use, or to
my veterinary or animal hospital or similar operation legally existing and presently
operating in the Borough. ((3rd. 846. Passed 8-4-80.)
