I freeze empty seltzer bottles and then cut them open and put the ice into my waterers. I also freeze watermelon rinds and give them to my birds as a treat.

Ice cubes in the waterer, melt into the water as the day goes by. If it's really hot, maybe make an ice block in a ziplock bag might last longer.

Anyone use fans for air circulation?

  6. They won’t, but if you have a few you can rotate them through the day. It may be annoying but it’s effective

Wow, must be really hot where you are! My chickens don't like it when it gets above the 70's!

  8. My girls have made it through temperatures in the 100’s - for us 75 is chilly!

It's going to be really hot this week in n.c. 97-98 degrees heat index 100- 105. They have a fan blowing on them, a tarp over there run and plenty of water with ice in it. We are lucky to live close to work so we can check on them at lunch time. Poor things are panting and holding there wings out some. We have frozen watermelon and blueberries for a treat at lunch.

Im thinking of using a fan..coops directly behind the the window in my room so i will be able to make sure everything runs smooth. They have to be miserable they dont even lay eggs as much in this heat but. i cant blame them ugh...
