what do you think about this new tax crap? first the federal tax now the state tax. why? it's not to help with smokers health care. the individuals' health care already charges a higher rate to smokers for that. it's only for the 900 million dollars they'll rake in. they say "it will help smokers quit". the government has no buisiness "helping" individuals quit anything! forcing them to, is a violation of rights and freedom. wait, this is amerika. what's freedom?

Its not about helping smoker quit. Do you realize what would happen if tomorrow nobody bought tobacco from then on. Our government would be in serious trouble.

Expect to see more taxes on other "items" in the very near future. They might not ask for more out of your paycheck (for right now, thats coming soon, trust me) but you are about to start paying more for certain items. They are calling it a sin tax. Sugar is going to be on the list very soon.

Just think if people quit buying alcohol and tobacco at the same time. government would fall flat on its face. I think I am going to go buy a 6-pack right now just to help our govenrnment out.

I don't know, the sugar industry seems to have a lot of political influence.

Ah, but, they are not forcing us. They are not silly enough to pass a law that smoking will be illegal in, say, 2 years. And of course it has nothing to do with health care. The government does not even want us to quit. We are too profitable. It has to do with money.

I was not wild about Republicans winning in 2008, I see Bush and his buddies as profiteers, but the alternative is evidently socialism, or something close to it.

If there were a real choice in presidential candidates, I might have actually voted in the last 20 years.

Well, I did vote for Perot. At least he was a successful businessman.

The rights and freedoms you expect, as you should, are already gone.

My mama said "if you don't vote, you can't complain..... I'm good at complaining."

Sadily I've never once voted for something at the state level and it won. I may be hexed there.
