Do you guys tan the hides? I have been doing this for a little while, and I have realized that deer are 50 times easier than coons. How do you guys get all of the grease off?

Quote:I also do some taxidermy part time and you find out very quick that deer hides are one of the easiest to do. With my coon hides i skin and flesh them then i wash them repeatedly wash it in a mix of water and laundry detergent. But its important after washing in the mix, to rinse the hide in just water to make sure you get all the detergent out. I usually have to do that several times before i tan. Then i use a tanning solution on the hide.

Ashmnav, I need to get with you and talk to you about taxidermy.
