Just checking to see if anyone is familiar with Greenfire Farms Lavender Orpingtons and why they are so special. I emailed him and all I could get was he bought his stock from a guy in Georgia. There is no info on their web page. I thought their first Ebay add stated they were imported but the recent add does not say that. If they are US bred birds why are they selling on ebay for $25 - $30 per egg? What is so special about them? I can't get anymore reply emails from him. Does anybody know about a breeder on Georgia? I love the Lavender Orpingtons and am familiar with the 'Lavender Project' in the US and the wonderful work they are doing and just wish he would share more about his Greenfire birds. Have no idea about his program even though I have asked. Thought I could get some info from BYC members. The last auction sold for $293 for 10 eggs.

They look an awful lot like Jody and Charlie's line of project birds to me. This is not meant in the least bit to be a slight to Jody & Charlie, but the pictures on the auction look like project birds not the finished article (and nothing like their current flock). Note how they cut most of the bird out of the photo! From the head alone though it doesn't look like an Orpington, it is too long in the neck and the expression is quite incorrect.

I'll never buy anything from them again. Their website is pretty clevar, but they clearly are just into buying stock and selling eggs and that's that. Well, mix in some poetic nonsense here and there...

It is nonsense when better can be had elsewhere for less, and they most likely came from that source but no work has been put in to improve them.
