Does anybody live in the Northern New Jersey area? More perhaps towards Sussex county (Vernon,Wantage,Sussex, and etc. area)? Anybody know what the rules are?

I live in sussex county (montague). Having similar problems finding info on the ordinaces and zoning laws. I spoke with someone from the sussex county dept of ag and she said to call the zoning board and ask for specifics. The problem I see is that the ordinance (at least for montague) is vague and could probably be used to help or hinder chicken ownership depending on who was answering you. Some of the little townships specifically state "no livestock" or "no chickens" if you have under 5 acres. Owning over 5 acres in montague and you are protected under the "right to farm" clause. Then there is how your property is zoned. All very confusing. I hope you find an answer. Hope it all goes well for you.
