We're repurposing my daughter's toddler-bed mattress as a dog bed, and I'd like something more substantial than a crib sheet to cover it with, but sewn just like a fitted sheet.

I don't sew at all, nor do I own a sewing machine, but I was kind of thinking I could find fabric--something like fleece--and send it to someone who sews?

Here's the mattress, with just a polarfleece throw tossed over it:

If you're crafty, I bet something like this would work.
    No Sew Fleece Blanket

That would cover both sides, no sewing required, just some cut holes and ribbon/string/rope. It'd probably only cost $10 to make. And it'd be removable to wash.

    Edited to add...

Oh you could probably make a tie blanket for a cover too. Just use the pre-sticky velcro strips to close one side up instead of tying it together [IMG]

Quote:Or...I could use just one thickness of blanket, make the holes, and run a cord through it kind of like a drawstring on a laundry bag?

    Hmmmmmm. Food for thought!

Are you just wanting something like a huge pillow case to slide over the mattress so you can take it off and wash it? If so, I can make one for you and may even have some fleece big enough to cover it. Let me know and I'll look. Oh where in Arkansas are you? I'm in Corning!!! Thanks

Quote:I was really thinking of something exactly like a fitted crib sheet, but out of thicker, cushier material (and I'll probably put some "eggcrate" foam on top of the mattress, since my older dogs are the ones who use it the most). But yeah, I'd need two or three so I could change them out and wash them. The mattress itself is perfect for this use, since it's waterproof and antibacterial!

Where is Corning? You can PM or email me anytime!
