They go on ebay for 30$. I don't really want to breed quail for living, just wanted to give it a shot once, or twice. I only have 4 hens and a roo. Anyone ever try one of these? Opinions?
I've not used this myself but from what I've read it's not the best. Don't trust the temperature read out on the incubator. Get another thermometer that's known to be correct for temp and a hygrometer to measure the humidity. I've also read that turning can be problematic in these incubators.
Are you thinking of incubating quail in this incubator? If so looking at the turner where the eggs sit looks a little large for quail egg. You would need to take this into consideration.
I know it's probably not what you want to hear but I would rather you be prepared before setting eggs.
I've actually been tempted by those myself (and still am). Only thing that's kept me from buying one, is that I'd have to build a brooder too I might still try it, but probably not till next year and I'd certainly use a second thermometer.
